  • Position Summary
    • The LNA will assist nursing and medical staff to provide care to Weeks Medical Center patients as directed. She/he may encounter patients of all ages.
  • Qualifications
    • Educational: Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent; certification as a Nursing Assistant; be computer literate; hold current BLS certification; and for LNA II, have at least 18 months of pertinent LNA experience.
    • Personal: Excellent communication skills with co-workers and patients; multi-task oriented; possess organizational skills; possess problem solving skills.
  • Essential Functions of the Job
    • Required skills and competencies. Has competency checklist been completed with all competencies met (i.e. job skills / knowledge, equipment knowledge)?
    • Assist clinical staff with patient flow to include rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and documenting reason for patient visit.
    • Perform lab drawing, blood pressure checks and EKG's on walk-in or scheduled patients.
    • Schedule ancillary testing and referral appointments at the request of the provider (ensuring that appropriate referrals are in place).
    • File copies of patient documentation (x-ray and lab reports, office notes, etc.) and forward copies of test results to the patient at the request of.
    • Monitor patient recall lists as directed by the provider.
    • Verify that the diagnoses for lab tests ordered meet the 'Medically Necessary Guidelines? and issue 'Advance Beneficiary Notices? to patients when the guidelines are not met.
    • Maintain clinical stock supplies, check medication refrigerator temperatures daily, and ensure that the oxygen tank is checked every morning.
    • Answer incoming calls, take messages, and transfer calls to other members of the clinical staff as appropriate.
    • Cross-trained to all specialties (podiatry, laboratory, family practice, internal medicine, family planning, (etc.).
    • Update patient plan of care under direction of provider thru eClinical Works.
    • Prepare patient correspondence under the direction of the provider.
    • Responsible for medication closet to include inventory of both stock and sample medications as well as disposal of outdated medications.
    • Transfer laboratory results to patient flow sheets thru eClinical Works (when available).
    • Provide patient education under the direction of the provider.
    • Retrieval of and response to telephone messages for providers who are out of the office thru eClinical Works.
