  • Position Summary
    • The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining the Weeks Medical Center environment in a clean and safe manner consistent with standards established by Administration in conjunction with the Infection Control and Safety Committees.
  • Qualifications
    • High school education or equivalent is not required, but one must be able to read, understand written documents and write.
    • Ability to read housekeeping schedules and follow oral directions. After training, be able to work independently with little supervision.
    • One year in Housekeeping is desirable, but not necessary. Worker should reach full productivity after brief on-the-job training.
  • Essential Functions of the Job
    • Required skills and competencies. Has competency checklist been completed with all competencies met (i.e. job skills / knowledge, equipment knowledge)?
    • Demonstrates current technical competence and excellence in technical practice.
    • To perform cleaning and disinfecting functions using the 7 Cleaning Steps.
      • Empty wastebaskets.
      • High dust.
      • Floor dust.
      • Disinfecting and spot cleaning.
      • Bathroom cleaning.
      • Floor disinfecting.
      • Your inspection.
    • Cleaning of the following areas following established schedules and using prescribed methods.
      • Patient rooms (occupied and unoccupied)
      • Isolation rooms
      • Discharged patient rooms
      • Operating room
      • Emergency room area
      • Non-patient areas
    • Trash pick-up using proper procedures.
      • Recyclable
      • Infectious
      • Regular
      • Restocking Bags
      • Cleaning of soiled trash containers
    • Linen runs.
      • All floors (OR, ER, SSU , M/S FLOORS, ONCOLOGY, X-RAY)
      • At proper times (breaks and lunch)
    • Isolation cleaning. To perform cleaning and disinfecting functions, using the 7 Cleaning Steps.
      • Proper gowning techniques and use of PPE (personal protection equipment).
      • Proper disposal of trash and linen.
    • Manages time effectively to ensure that deadlines are met and that personal priorities support organizational objectives.
    • Performs all other duties as assigned.
